TIEBREAK RULES

1) Direct encounter

2) Buchholz - 1 (The same as Buchholz (sum of opponents’ scores), but the lowest opponent’s score is left out)

3) Buchholz ((Sum of all opponents’ scores)

4) Sonneborn-Berger (Opponents’ scores: full points for wins, half points for draws.)

5) Number of  Games Won

NOTES: No requested bye points in this event. Clocks and chess set are provided. By signing up, you permit Windsor Chess Club the ability to take and use photos from the tournament on its social media. If you would not like your photo used, please email us at windsorchessclub2025@gmail.com

WITHDRAW POLICY:

  • Pre-registered and pre-paid participants who withdraw at least 3 days before the event start date are eligible for a refund via EMT. 
  • Withdrawals made 1 day before the event will receive full credit, which may be applied to future events/tournaments. 
  • No refunds or credits will be issued for withdrawals made on the tournament day.

Eligibility: CFC membership required

Rating: Sections will be determined using the highest of CFC or FIDE rating. All sections will be CFC rated. 

Registration: O1900,U1900,U1500 Online registration ends on February 20 at 7:00 PM.  No on-site registration will be accepted.  

Time Control: 60 minutes + 30 seconds a move(O1900, U1900 , U1500); 30 minutes + 30 seconds a move (Junior U1100)

Format: 5 Rounds Swiss/Round Robin(section may merge), JUNIOR U1100 (4 Rounds)

Section: O1900, U1900 , U1500,  JUNIOR U1100, Unrated

The default forfeit time for any game is 30 min

Pre-registration required. No on-site registration will be accepted.  Registration will close on Friday Feb 20, at 7:00pm. 

Free entry for GM/IM/WGM/FM/WIM/WFM, early entry required before Feb 14.

Playing up: Add $20 if playing up. A player must be within 100 points of the rating floor for the section they wish to play up in.

Byes: A maximum of two half point byes in the first 3 rounds if requested with entry; zero points byes are allowed for round 4,5; All bye requests at least one hour before the next round and must be emailed to  windsorchessclub2025@gmail.com contact Cindy at +1 2269753806 on site

Prizes(Prizes based on paid entries; subject to change): 

  • O1900 Prizes:
  • Top 3 prizes based on paid entries (50% / 25% / 12.5%) plus 1st place Trophy and 2nd–3rd Medals. Example: 10 paid entries → $400 / $200 / $100.
  • U1900:$100 for Top1 Plus Trophy and 2nd, 3rd Medals
  • U1500:$50 for Top 1 Plus Trophy and 2nd, 3rd Medals
  • Junior U1100: 1st Trophy and 2nd, 3rd Medals
  • Unrated: 1st Trophy and 2nd, 3rd Medals

Prize money is split between winners in case of a tie.  Trophy and Medals depends on tie-break. e-transfer please leave your email/paypal before leaving

Tiebreak Rules: 1) Direct encounter 2) Buchholz 3) Number of games won (not including forfeits) 4) Sum of the ratings of the opponents (without one result)

Special Notes:  The organizer will supply all chess pieces, chess boards, and clocks.

Cancellation Fees: A $10 processing fee will be applied for any cancellation prior to Feb 20th. After Feb 20th, refund goes to credit for next tournament.
